Camping is incredibly fun for everyone and can help to create some truly wonderful memories. However, as great as it is, there’s an awful lot of preparation that goes into it. You can grab a sleeping bag and a few bits on the way out the door, but when you’re in the middle of nowhere, you should probably stop to do a bit of planning before-hand. The fact is, it’s very easy to overlook some of the important things. Actually, there are a number of things that you don’t know that you need until you need them. Well, in this article, we’re going to go through a few awesome camping tips and hacks that you may have otherwise missed.
1 – Bring some extra gas for cooking
If you’ve got a little gas stove that you plan to cook with, why don’t you be extra careful and pack another gas cannister? That way, you can cook as much as you like without fear of running out and having to eat a cold tin of beans for dinner. Packing some extra fuel is always worth while and can save you a lot of time and effort. That, coupled with these one pot camping meals should keep you going!
2 – Bring your own utensils
And we’re not just talking about plastic knifes and forks! Why not cut down on plastic waste and use your own utensils and cutlery from at home. Not only are they sturdier, but with a simple wash they can be reused again. Who’s going to hold onto used plastic forks?
3 – Get a better cool box
In fact, better yet, why not get a fridge slide for your car? Don’t worry if you can’t afford one though, there are some pretty nifty cool boxes on the market that will definitely do the job. That way you can pack your cool box with plenty more supplies and keep it cooler for longer! Pack plenty of ice packs so that your meat remains cool enough to keep fresh!
4 – Don’t forget your camping mats!
It’s not uncommon for people to pack their sleeping bags and travel pillows, but nothing for them to sleep on. Well, you can grab yourself some Affordable Camping Mats here, so that you can be sure to have a comfortable night, absent the odd tree-root sticking into your back during the night.
5 – Bring something to light a fire with
You could bring a normal cigarette lighter, but surely there is a better way? Perhaps a traditional flint and tinder box to go old school with your campfires?
6 – Snack up!
Think of taking snacks that aren’t going to go bad in the sun or take up room in the cool box. For example, take some mixed nuts and crisps to store in your car. You’ll be surprised by how hungry you’ll get throughout the day, particularly if you’re doing a lot of hiking and running around. A bag of nuts in between meals will give you that little boost that you need!
